As soon as he became MLA in 1980 general election, many more problem were awaiting for him. Soon after he became MLA the many Mills of Ahmedabad closed down. And he again started movement for the victims of these closed down mills.

He became Working President of INTUC.

He had 86 Unions during this period.

He started movement for unemployment, State Transport problems and many more problems even though there was Congress Government in state.
